Demand for city warehouses on a rise

The demand for warehouses within a city limit is expected to increase over the coming year as e-commerce firms are looking for same day delivery as their major competitive advantage. This is on a rise due to Covid -19, the demand for selling groceries and foods are increasing, firms need to sell these within hours. Warehouses with 5000-10,000 sq. ft. is more in demand. E-commerce firms are looking for storing their inventory near to their customers for easy delivering of the same. This will also make sure that the quality of the product is not compromised.

The city warehouse is expected to gain traction and act as small distribution hubs. Older and lesser utilized ground level office spaces and service centers are also being considered. Lock-downs had accelerated the already flourishing e-commerce sector in India, as the fear of people coming out with risk of getting infected by the deadly virus had forced them to adapt and change to the situation by ordering through e-commerce firms. Currently the warehouses are far away from the cities and are difficult to reach larger customer on a single day. This will also helps the company to minimize the transportation costs and execute faster delivery timings.
