This is my first blog post. This post points to the new opportunities that will arise in supply chain and logistics after Covid-19.
The current situation of Covid-19 has disrupted many supply chains globally and hence has led to the adoption of digital initiatives by businesses. There has been an urgent need to reduce dependency on physical labor across supply chains and instead enable it with digital technologies for Industry 4.0 like IoT, blockchains, control towers, AI/ machine learning-enabled demand forecasting, self-adjusting stock allocations, drones, etc.
The major opportunities that will arise in supply chain and logistics post-COVID includes:
Factories that can adapt/shift lines due to demand changes backed by supply networks capable of intelligently communicating with one another.
Intelligent procurement which means organizations will know when and where to source using machine learning algorithms will be another new opportunity
Supply chain control tower which is a single source of information from sourcing to delivery for all trading partners.
Supply chain data management with intelligent automation and analytics which will help organizations gather insights around supplier performance, supply chain diagnostics, market intelligence, and risk management is another opportunity.
Supplier risk management would help organizations avoid sudden disruptions in supply chain and supply chain simulation helps to identify best cost-efficient network to achieve necessary service level across the value chain are another two important opportunities.
