Reverse logistics

It deals with the planning, processes, flow of finished goods inventory, packaging materials, and the parts of finished products back from the end customer to the company  in the form of sales return or as warranty return or an unsold inventory with trading partner.

It re captures value from the materials through re salvaging, refurbishing etc.

The global awareness of hazardous waste generation and disposal is increasing.

Green logistics interactive provides an outline of a detailed process that the manufacturers and suppliers have to adapt a colour coding system in order to identify the different kinds of reusable, recyclable, green waste etc. Most of the countries with small and medium scale companies have started packaging retrieval, salvaging, scrapping process etc.

The increase in awareness has led the companies to adopt standards and measures to ensure recycling and minimizing environmental impacts and reducing scraps besides ensuring completely recovering the waste materials.

The re engineering process with waste material is saving tons of raw materials and provides employment to to hundreds of people involved in setting up outfits for dismantling the parts. This activity till now has employed 12000 in the US alone and the reused parts account for over 36 billion dollars estimated by auto parts re manufacturers association.

Nowadays taking the responsibility to back the packaging and product has been found not only to to increase scrap and salvage value but perceived as a corporate responsibility and a part of corporate governance which is adopted by responsible companies.
