Logistics management in Cosmetic industry

 Hello everyone,

I am Sreelakshmi V, final year MBA student from Amrita School Of Business, Coimbatore. In this blog, I would like to share some insights on logistics management of cosmetic industry.

Production and distribution of cosmetics has to meet some requirements in order to be in market as per legal regulations. Since cosmetic products are made in laboratories by mixing physical and chemical ingredients it may need to be specially taken care of during its flow from laboratories to end customers. The logistics chain of cosmetic starts from laboratories where it is formulated to the point of sales ,i.e. customers.

Some of the important things that has to be considered are :

  • Storage and transportation

The cosmetic products may need to be stored and transported very carefully so that adverse effects caused due to weather, temperature, light and humidity can be avoided as its ingredients may easily react to the changes. The failure in maintaining the required conditions may lead to the inefficiency of the products as its physical or chemical properties will be lost.

  • Less transportation times

The products need to be taken care of and it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure the product  when reaching the customer should be at its best condition and maintains its properties, consistency , appearance and smell. Risk will increase when the product has to go from one vehicle to another.

  • Traceability

It enables the business to reach out and withdraw the products if any damage occurs, It also ensure the quality of the product throughout the transportation.

Thank you for reading. Hope you liked it.
