Supply chain of GUCCI

 Hello everyone,

I am Merin George, second year MBA student from Amrita School of Business. In this blog I would like to share some insights on the topic how supply chain of GUCCI
Gucci is probably the one of the luxury brands making sustainable brands, they are owned by kering which is one of the top most sustainable brand. In its Florence factories, 100 percent of Gucci's leather goods, shoes and ready to wear are still made. The initial workshop was situated on Via delle Caldaie in Florence, and the current headquarters are located outside Florence, in Casellina.

However, eyewear and fragrances are produced by Safilo Group and Proctor and Gamble and sold under licence. Safilo is headquartered in Padua, Italy and has been making and selling high-quality prescription lenses, sunglasses and sunglasses for over 75 years.Three VLMs (Vertical Lift Modules) from KardexRemstar Shuttle, FastPic programme and pick-to-light flow rack.VLMs have lowered labour costs and improved efficiency by 40 percent, thus decreasing floor space by up to 80 percent. In a 210 square footprint, the three Shuttle VLMs have approximately 1800 feet of usable storage space. The Kardex Remstar Shuttle VLMs are inherently configured for adjustment and versatility. The modular design enables the units to be relocated very easily and cost efficiently or have the heights changed. The picking area of the Distribution Center ( DC) is divided into five zones linked to smart conveyors that directly route the orders to be picked and pulled into shipping containers. Use the pick-to-light flow rack for the first three zones. The next zone is made up of three Shuttle VLMs and the last zone is the "double scan" area that uses shelving and "double" bar code scanning verification for additional protection due to the cost and importance of those objects.
Gucci depends on and works closely with a selected network of reliable suppliers to ensure that environmental and social best practices are implemented in its supply chain.

The supply chain of Gucci hires thousands of individuals who indirectly work for the house and help create its collections. Although they are not hired directly by us, they are undoubtedly part of our society. For over two or three decades, several of these firms have supplied Gucci. Our supply chain for manufacturing includes Both Gucci-owned and directly managed internal facilities and trusted suppliers managed external facilities. 95 percent of our producers are located in Italy.

In order to comply with our Gucci Sustainability Principles and Code of Ethics, all our suppliers and sub-contractors are required. In addition, suppliers must behave in compliance with our Modern Slavery declaration and our production activities are also regulated in compliance with the certification management framework of SA8000.It is a major priority for us to help our suppliers and the empowerment of women across our supply chain is particularly important.
