Hi All!
I'm Sreelakshmi M N, second year MBA student at Amrita School of Business Coimbatore. Recently I came across an article on warehouse automation and here are some major insights from the article
Inna automated warehouse orders are automatically received after which the system confirms whether the product is available in the stock or not and the pickup list is then sent to robot cards that place the order products into the containers and delivers them to the next stop.
the warehousing operations are becoming more complex and complex with improving technology in order to meet this complex needs smart warehouses should be flexible to adapt to the changes in today's world. The smart warehouse system should constantly attempt to optimize the travel of products from storage to shipment.
The goal of a smart warehouse is to limit the need for in house human staff but to also be prepared during busy times of the year. A good smart warehouse will also keep a trained group of employees in place for slower months.
As the complexity of warehousing and supply chains keeps increasing your smart warehouse should always look to the future. Smart warehouses need to be able to embrace massive inventory influxes and fresh product launches at any moment. For most applications related to supply chain processes , data accessibility has been a must-have. As supply chains and warehousing operations become more complex, software solutions need to be ready to update and store data immediately.
It is time to implement automation.Rather than automating the whole warehouse at one go, which requires a lot of investments it is better to start small instead, and move towards automation. Start with only one of these technologies, and add another after a few years.
