WayCool Foods

WayCool Foods

Food supply chain startup WayCool Foods and Products was founded by Karthik Jayaraman and Sanjay Dasari in July 2015 as a B2C fruits and vegetable supply chain named SunnyBee. The startup chose to pivot to a farm-to-fork B2B model and now makes almost 90% revenue from the B2B channel. WayCool foods are a tech-enabled food delivery business that strives to have a positive effect on the farmers' livelihood and fulfil the diverse needs of India's population

WayCool has become one of India's fastest-growing food tech company in less than four years, connecting with over 35,000 farmers across 15 states, and using over 150 GPS-enabled trucks to transport 250 + tonnes of fresh produce dairy staples and value-added goods daily.

The process begins with the farmers who harvest, grade, and pack the products based on the order created by the master planning method of WayCool. Every box is weighed and tested so that the distribution centres in the city know precisely how much product comes from which supplier and where the samples are taken to undergo stringent quality controls.

It tests for physical defects such as colour and size and against international food safety requirements such as nitrate levels, the residue of and even hygiene of distribution if they pass they are put on conveyors to be inverted. The automated inverting process ensures unwanted care is prevented and the opportunity for human malpractice is removed.

The farmer gives a weight assurance in weight testing and the payment is made electronically 100% within 1-7 days. The goods are put on consumer pallets for ease of processing and ready for shipment until inverted stock is reallocated to satisfy the demands of the diverse WayCool clientele through general retail, hotels, restaurants, exporters and new shops. WayCool has managed to serve all the customers at 100% fulfilment and guaranteed on-time delivery.

WayCool uses machine learning algorithms to automatically calculate the share of the market among farmers by mapping consumer demands directly on the backend to farmers. Although WayCool gives priority to speed and productivity, they do not compromise on employee hygiene checks.

WayCool strives to service customer demand at a greater standard than anyone else by working closely with farmers on a platform called “Outro”. Also, WayCool provides a diversified omnichannel clientele of 8000+ clients through restaurants and small shops which will liquidate 100% of all that the farmers have produced, with more than 1000 staff covering the stream, WayCool has brought a 30% rise in farmers' profits.
