Plan for Every Part - 4 Levels of Benefits

Hello all, my name is Vikas S Menon and I am a 2nd year MBA student at Amrita school of business. Hope all are doing well. I hope you have read my previous blog. If you haven’t read, type #SCM in the search bar and you will find me.

The subject that I am going to talk about is from the SCMDOJO page where you will get more information related to real-time supply chain issues, solutions, and tools used. SCMDOJO shares supply chain expertise and resources to support all people, with an equal chance of developing more open, scalable, and agile supply chain designs customized to their needs. If anyone is interested to know more, visit their site which I will be posted at the end of the blog.

Plan For Every Part (PFEP) originates from the Lean Culture. The PFEP is used to describe a strategy for the most effective replenishment and transfer of each level of the business across a complete supply or value chain. PFEP will link all of the organization's data points to make the product to knowledge flow more accessible inside the structure. PFEP covers data generation points such as Modelling, Supplier, Logistics, Demand, Warehouse, Process Schedule, Material Handler in Plant, Floor Staff, Quality Department, and Customer Data. It typically contains all details which are directly or indirectly related to that particular item. These key characteristics can be subdivided, for example, by the provider, how many vendors, material cost historical records, material efficiency, lead time, complexity performance capacity, core competence, and many more. PFEP stores all data relevant to each item, such as Design, Preparation, Processing, Procuring, Storage, Manufacturing and Sales or Distribution and Accounting in a single structure. This data is largely obscured since it is located in various places that are not available at the appropriate place and time.

The steps in implementing PFEP are to Identify and Define PFEP Data, Select the PFEP Information Management System where a lot of information is stored as well required to rearrange and retrieve it, Begin to Collect and Enter Data Into the PFEP, and Delegate Maintenance Responsibility. A Plan-for-Every-Part is designed to maximize the value of all plant operations by removing unnecessary data collection functions, minimizing data inaccuracies, and significantly enhancing forecasting processes that depend on inventory data. The benefits of PFEP are at different levels like Floor level where PFEP offers a high awareness of information to staff who work on the factory floor, in manufacturing level where PFEP increases material preparation and will minimize the lead time for the final product. It's going to hold the Supply back, Waiting Time Terms out of production planning, in supply chain level where It drastically reduced running costs and helped to raise more sales from the same capital.

If you guys are interested in knowing more about PFEP, Please visit the SCMDOJO site given below. They have other tools that can make solutions for a supply issue. Like PFEP, there are other tools available and comment about the other tools which you’re interested in along with your valuable feedback.

Thank you.
